According to NFC world today, Verifone has announced that they will include NFC capabilities in all new POS terminals. It seems that they are also pushing for more than mere contactless acceptance, but deeper interactivity that NFC can support.
Does this mean that the chicken and egg conundrum is finally getting solved for contactless/NFC payments? They also indicate that merchant resistance has been the main slowing factor in deployment. If so what was the “tipping point,” and has it actually been reached?
