Fiserv yesterday disclosed via Twitter that it is working on building banking products that uses Microsoft Surface 2.0, the new touchscreen software that Microsoft unveiled this week at the massive CES consumer electronics expo in Las Vegas.
The product Fiserv is working on apparently will be for bank branches. The company offered no additional details. We imagine other IT firms will join Fiserv by tapping the new Surface iteration.
Here’s a promotional video (emphasis on “promotional”) highlighting Microsoft Surface 2.0.
We’ve seen this show before. Back in 2008 Microsoft’s Surface 1.0 was heralded as the next-big-thing for branch banking. Well, it wasn’t. Whether 2.0 can change the status quo is anyone’s guess.
