NCR has kicked off sales of its new “interactive” ATM product.
The product, which utilizes uGenius technology, allows ATM users to bank with a teller via video conferencing. Video teller service allows banks to extend service hours (6-7 PM is a particularly busy time as customers get off work) and offer a variety of languages to better serve specific communities.
NCR told Bank Innovation that the new product has formally rolled out and is purchasable. Dollar Bank first put the product into use last February, and NCR was presenting it at BAI Retail Delivery this week.
The “interactive” ATM product is part of the “mediated service” trend. The theory in retail banking today is that consumers want automation, but automation can only go so far — just as there needs to be an airline representative at hand when you check in for a flight at a kiosk.
NCR helps process 30 million transactions per day and employs 23,000. The company generated $5.3 billion of revenue last year.
