David Schropfer from Luciano Group, giving the keynote on Mobile Wallets, says that consumers will not carry multiple mPay apps for each retailer they patron. Instead, there will be one overriding system in which each merchant will participate. Therefore, he recommends that even giants like Walmart should not build their own mobile wallet solution. Richard Crone disagrees, citing bill pay evolution in which the individual-biller model beats out the centralized-biller model. He doesn’t think it is that big of a deal for a consumer to pull up a Walmart app when they go to a Walmart store or even 25 other apps for the 25 other merchants they frequent. Who is correct? Or are they both??
