A deeper look into the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.’s second quarter statistics for the nation’s banks released recently shows that large institutions have gotten only larger since the credit crisis. In the third quarter of 2008, banks with more than $10 billion of assets controlled 78.2% of all bank assets in the US. That share increased to 79.1% last quarter.
