Bank of America Corp. employed 242,117 full-time employees at the end of last year.
It desperately needs employee No. 242,118.
That’s because Bank of America, the nation’s second-largest bank, is currently without a leader for digital banking strategy initiatives, and it does not look like the search is going particularly well.
This is not just another job at BofA. The Digital Banking Strategy Executive “leads the ongoing strategic thinking process, translating the multi-year plan into specific implementation strategies and actionable plans” at Bank of America. The position in Charlotte, N.C., also includes leadership of the bank’s strategy team, and at Bank of America, that’s a crucial team. Bank of America has 30 million online customers and more than 14 million mobile users, according to the company.
The job opening, however, has not slowed Bank of America’s app development. The bank’s iPhone, iPad and Android mobile banking apps were all updated late last month.
It should be noted that Bank of America was the only major bank not to attend our Bank Innovation 2014 recently in Seattle.
Word of the job opening is available on LinkedIn, where it is seemingly attracting little attention. As of this morning, the bank had received only 17 applications since it was posted on Feb. 26.
