The syncing feature of Buxfer, one of the handful of new online personal financial management services, appears be malfunctioning.
Customers are reporting syncing problems with Buxfer’s Firefox application, known as Firebux, and when trying to sync with Chase Bank data.
An email request for comment from Buxfer was not answered.
The Firebux syncing problem may have something to do with a new release of the Firefox plug-in on April 12. The plug-in has been downloaded around 6,800 times to date.
The Chase issue appears to have first surfaced earlier this year. Apparently, the Chase system asks for an identification code when consumers try to sync their data into the Buxfer application. It appears as though Buxfer does not support such identification validation.
As one consumer asked of Buxfer, “How can Chase be a supported bank [by Buxfer], but Buxfer doesn’t know how to handle identification validation?”
Buxfer is, in part, funded by Y Combinator, a noted angel investment firm.
