They might have missed the Bernard Madoff scandal, but the Securities and Exchange Commission is not going to miss the latest fad — Twitter.
The SEC has three feeds on the fast-growing site: Investor Education, SEC News, and SEC Jobs, although the job feed has not been updated in nearly three months.
As of this morning, there were 2,232 people following the three feeds, and while we’re unlikely to learn about Commissioner Mary Schapiro’s inner thoughts through the site, the SEC is using Twitter to push out news about arrests and charges it has filed. All in all, the agency is taking advantage of a great opportunity.
