Mitek Systems Inc. today said that it secured four new patents for its mobile deposit technology. The patents supplement and initial patent for mobile deposit granted in Aug. 2010.
Mitek said — ambiguously, we might add — that “the new patents add texture to the original patented process and broaden Mitek’s
protection for Mobile Deposit.”
Mitek private-labels the technology through these technology providers:
- NCR
- BankServ (formerly NetDeposit)
- RDM Corporation
- 3i-Infotech (formerly J&B Software)
- Fiserv
- Jack Henry & Associates
- FIS
- Wausau Financial Systems
- CheckAlt Payment Solutions (formerly Skyline’s DirectFED)
- Secure Payment Systems
- Bluepoint Solutions
- VSoft
- Cachet Financial Solutions
- Ensenta
- Clairmail
- mFoundry
- Monitise Americas
We’ve professed our enthusiasm for the mobile deposit technology in the past. Mitek’s new patents firm its hold on the technology. Whether the patents squelch innovation in mobile deposits remains to be seen.
Our soon-to-be-released Bank Innovation Monitor hints at the additional potential in mobile deposits to advance mobile banking as a whole. Click here to stay up on developments related to the Bank Innovation Monitor.
