Isis, the mobile payments startup from T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and AT&T, appears to be hiring at least 35 people in its initial phase. The new employees will work out of offices in New York, Atlanta and Seattle.
But it is fair to say the final headcount number will be well north of 35, according to our investigation of Isis documents.
Marketing will be run out of Seattle. IT and product development will be out of Atlanta (and not out of Seattle, where there is more coding talent than in Atlanta). New York will house the management team.
What’s clear from our investigation is that Isis has segmented its product development between the BlackBerry platform and the Android OS. Additionally, Isis will facilitate mobile offers and coupons, and is designing its platform to facilitate such functionality from the get-go. This functionality will command its own product development team.
Among the more senior positions Isis has yet to fill are Corporate IT Manager, who will manage a team of Tier I, II and III IT Specialists providing support to the Isis employees, and IT Service Management Director, who is responsible for “defining, implementing and executing the processes and tools to manage the overall technical environment.”
Isis sees itself as “striving to revolutionize how consumers shop and pay with mobile devices.” The startup is already calling itself a “game-changer and innovator in mass-market mobile commerce.”
