No-envelope ATMs first hit the market in 2006. Chase began its widespread installation of the ATMs in 2008, finishing the roll out process in 2010.
After all that, Citibank is finally rolling out the user-friendly ATMs.
We’re trying to verify the scope of the roll out, but at least some branches in New York already have the technology.
CITIBANK BRANCH, 80 BROAD STREET, NEW YORK, SEPT 14, 2011
To say that the technology was a long-time coming is an understatement. Citi has more than 3,200 ATMs in over 1,000 Citibank branches in the U.S. Citi also has ATMs in more than 6,000 7-Eleven stores nationwide.
I remember the first bank I worked for in 1982 and their ATM’s dispensed $20’s and $5’s! I remember a couple of times they switched the cartridges and put the $20’s in the $5 slot and vice versa. Talk about a mess!! You had to figure out what they really got. So how much would the customer have received if they asked for $30??
