South Korean technology company Samsung has filed a patent for a new feature of its mobile payment service, Samsung Pay, that could allow users to share their transaction history with other users.
The patent, which was submitted to the Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service, or KIPRIS, details the new feature as a method for allowing users to let others know about their buying experiences with Samsung Pay.
The KIPRIS patent does not include details of a future upgrade or launch date for when the feature, named Samsung Pay Stories, is slated to appear on the mobile payments app.
Industry experts describe the feature as a way to raise awareness for Samsung Pay via social media; Samsung also detailed a future campaign in the patent, “Pay Story with Celebrities,” that will aim to encourage users to experiment with the feature.
