FinAI fintech funding: Agentic AI startup reaches $386.3M in funding

Compliance provider WorkFusion ’s latest funding round indicates growing industry demand for fraud solutions and interest in agentic AI. On Sept. 16, WorkFusion announced it raised $45 million in a funding round led by Toronto-based Georgian . WorkFusion, which offers agentic AI-driven solutions for financial crime compliance, has raised $386.3 million in total funding over eight funding rounds, according to Crunchbase . With the latest funding, WorkFusion has paid down its debt “so that there is no debt obligation on the company,” WorkFusion Chief Executive Adam Famularo told Bank Automation News . “We are lining up for strategic areas of hiring to drive continued growth for the company.” Continued growth will support expansion of WorkFusion’s client base of more than 25 financial institutions globally , including: Raymond James ; $63 billion Valley Bank ; $1.6 trillion Deutsche Bank ; and $1 trillion BMO . This is the third WorkFusion funding round led by Georgian, according to Crunchbase. Other investments are: $35 million in January 2017; and $220 million in March 2021. Additional solutions can be expected from WorkFusion, Famularo said. “In Q1 2026, you’ll see an expanded focus beyond AML into fraud.” VCs invest in agentic AI solutions Investment in WorkFusion is just one example of venture capital’s growing interest in agentic AI. In the first half of the year, agentic AI startups raised $2.8 billion in venture capital funding, according to an August report by investment group Prosus , in partnership with data and intelligence provider Dealroom.co . The report notes that 10% of all AI funding rounds in 2025 are expected to address agentic AI specifically. Notably, this week AppZen , an agentic AI platform for finance teams, raised $180 million in a funding round led by Riverwood Capital , according to a Sept. 22 release.
