On Demo: With FinanceWorks, Any Bank’s Site Can Be Like Mint.com

Digital Insight and Intuit’s newborn online banking solution, FinanceWorks, aims to help financial institutions keep their consumers spending within their means.

I took a tour recently with Glenn Tom, senior vice president of the consumer segment at Digital Insight and really liked what I had to see.

The application, which banks can put on their websites as a kind of proprietary Mint.com, is heavy on pictorials, which helped me “visualize” my finances. FinanceWorks will breakdown your spending habits into a pie chart, separating it into categories like groceries, utilities, etc. You don’t have to do anything to see this graphic; it automatically appears. Then, you can click on individual categories, and a screen will show you all of the transactions you’ve made within the section, another nice touch. The tool allows consumers to manage all of their financial accounts in one place too.

Currently, more than 60 financial institutions are live, in the implementation process or contracted to offer FinanceWorks on their sites in the coming weeks.

Next on tap for FinanceWorks is an enhanced small business solution. Many small businesses are using their personal bank accounts to fund their businesses, says Tom. This tool will cater to them.
