This month saw investment in digital leadership and compliance, as C-suite positions were filled with new faces at JPMorgan Chase, Citi and Independent Financial, as well as at MoneyGram and Fiserv. Notable hires from April include:

Chase grows its consumer and community banking digital and product leadership team

JPMorgan Chase brought three new recruits into its consumer and community banking digital and product leadership team this month.

Sonali Divilek, the former head of product in the consumer business at Goldman Sachs, will join the $2.9 trillion Chase as head of digital channels and products this summer.

In May, Sumit Gupta will become head of customer experience and personalization at Chase. Gupta currently heads machine learning infrastructure at Google.

Finally, this month Kaaren Hanson started in her new role as chief design officer, leading product design and user interfaces, at Chase. Previously, she was executive vice president of experience design and research at Wells Fargo.

All three new hires will report to Chase Chief Product Officer Allison Beer. “It’s an exciting time to be a part of the Chase product, customer experience and digital team,” Beer said. “We have a huge agenda in front of us, and I am energized by the pace of change and the opportunity we have to continue to unleash the power of our products for our customers.”

JPMorgan Chase also promoted Bhavesh Patel to director of client management for the bank’s correspondent lending channel, where he will be tasked with improving the client experience. He previously served as managing director on Chase’s corporate client banking mortgage finance team.

Citi hires new financial crimes compliance chief

Ken Blanco, the former director of the Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCen) joined Citi this month as chief compliance officer in the bank’s newly created financial crimes unit. Prior to his role at FinCen, Blanco spent 29 years at the U.S. Dept. of Justice fighting white-collar crime.

The $2 trillion Citi is revamping after the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency levied a $400 million fine against the bank in October 2020 for risk management failures.

Fiserv appoints new head of investor relations

Global payments company Fiserv has appointed Shub Mukherjee as the head of investor relations. Mukherjee, who joined Fiserv in March to lead competitive intelligence, will expand her current role to include the new role. Previously, Mukherjee worked as senior vice president and head of investor relations for the Omnicom Group, a marketing communications firm.

Independent Financial names new chief digital officer

Independent Financial has named Bill Wade as its chief digital officer. Wade will lead the Texas-based bank’s digital and key technology initiatives, including heading a team that will focus on workflow automation, system integration, data assets and data analytics. He previously served as chief business architect for the $20 billion Simmons Bank.

MoneyGram names Hilary Jackson chief operating officer

Fund transfer company MoneyGram International named Hilary Jackson as chief operating officer as part of the cross-border P2P payments company’s efforts to accelerate its digital transformation. Jackson joins MoneyGram from Texas-based holding company Selene Holdings, where she also served as COO. Before that, she held multiple executive roles at Capital One, including head of technology for top of house product within the bank’s financial services division, and head of home loan servicing. She succeeds Kamila Chytil, who takes the role of COO at health care company DentaQuest.
