Apple has announced new features for Apple Wallet and Apple Pay.
“We’re adding two new ways to pay with Apple Pay online, giving customers around the world the ability to redeem rewards and access installments from their banks and card providers,” Craig Federighi, senior vice president of software engineering, said during the tech giant’s World Wide Developers Conference 2024 event June 10.
The new features include:
Tap to Cash: Apple introduced Tap to Cash, a quick and private way to exchange Apple cash without sharing phone numbers or email addresses, Federighi said during the event. “With Tap to Cash you can pay someone back for dinner just by holding your phones together.”

Apple Wallet: The Cupertino, Calif.-based company is also providing Apple Wallet users the ability to use a buy now, pay later offering while making online and in-store purchases through the app, Federighi said.
Apple rolled out Apple Pay Later in March 2023, allowing customers to make BNPL payments through their Apple Pay card. The recent feature will allow Apple Wallet customers to use BNPL offerings directly from financial institutions, Federighi said.
The company also aims to embed its generative AI offering, Apple Intelligence, into its Apple Wallet this year, Federighi said.
