Amazon Web Services’ business clients can now tap Visa’s payments solutions through the recently launched Visa Cloud Connect platform.
AWS clients can access the platform through APIs due to its cloud-native architecture, Jim Schinella, senior vice president of digital partnerships at Visa, said during the AWS Financial Services Symposium last week in New York City.

“From an e-commerce perspective, [Visa has] lowered the burden of becoming an e-commerce player,” Schinella said. Visa also developed solutions “where you can push the limits and authorization to accept as many payments as possible.”
According to Visa’s presentation at the event, Visa Cloud Connect enables the following for AWS clients:
- Cost effective and efficient payments solutions;
- Streamlined operations as all transactions are automatically routed to multiple applications;
- Improved processing performance; and
- Secure transaction data through firewalls, encryption and access detection.
Developing solutions
When developing solutions like Visa Cloud Connect, Visa keeps its clients’ dispute management teams, customer relations management teams and app developers in mind, Schinella said. The card giant’s solutions allow developers to write code in their preferred language and plug it into Visa’s network.
“We look at the constituents, and then we start to prioritize our (product development) roadmap from an AWS perspective,” Schinella said. “We have become more modern in terms of APIs” and how easily customers can access them.
All Visa solutions are available on the AWS marketplace, helping customers pick and choose from the services, Schinella said.
